The Tramlink, Beeston

Centerline co-ordinated street furniture for Beeston Tramlink.

In 2011 Nottingham City Council was awarded a Tramlink contract to create a world class tram system linking the city centre to the surrounding regions, a huge undertaking that has transformed the local transport network.Phase 2 has just been completed with a new line that takes in Chilwell and Beeston town centre. At an estimated cost of £570 million and over 38,000 passengers a week expected, this sophisticated and modern Tramlink is a truly landmark project.

The landscaping of the new tramway stops called for a number of seating solutions that would co-ordinate with other existing elements in Beeston (where Benchmark Design has previously supplied Centerline street furniture). These products also had to fit with the modern-look new tram system therefore items from the stainless steel Centerline range were selected, including planters, curved seating, litter bins, bollards and cycle hoops.

The large planters, which can be made to any dimensions, help soften the urban setting whilst the curved benches give fluidity throughout.

The Centerline range of street furniture is ideal for such developments due to the robust nature of the 316 stainless steel construction and timeless design, allowing for many years of functionality without becoming dated.
