Talbot Park – Kidderminster
Bespoke curved Street Furniture for new public realm regeneration in Kidderminster town centre.
Talbot Park is an exciting new public space at the heart of Kidderminster, created as part of a wider town centre regeneration scheme. Replacing the site of former retail premises, the new park brings green space, natural play and welcoming places to sit and relax into the urban environment, while improving pedestrian connections between Worcester Street and Bromsgrove Street.
Benchmark Street Furniture was appointed to supply the bespoke curved benches and seats, helping to bring the landscape design to life through carefully considered street furniture that complements the park’s organic layout.
Working alongside McPhillips and Ares Landscape Architects, Benchmark supplied a collection of bespoke curved benches and seats, incorporating our EX007 curved bench and EX003 seat designs. The curved forms were selected to sit naturally within the landscaped setting, creating comfortable places to pause, meet and enjoy the surroundings. Rather than acting simply as functional additions, the seating forms an integral part of the public realm, helping to define the character of the space and encourage visitors to spend time in the park.
The challenging topography of Talbot Park presented a unique technical consideration. With the site featuring an exceptionally steep gradient, standard seating legs were not suitable for accommodating the significant changes in level across the landscape. To overcome this, Benchmark manufactured bespoke legs for the benches, carefully adapting the seating to accommodate the fall of the site and ensure the furniture could be installed in line with the landscape design. Thus demonstrating Benchmark’s ability to deliver bespoke street furniture solutions that respond to the practical demands of complex public realm projects.
The project received Project of the Year in the £3 million–£10 million category at the 2026 CECA Midlands Awards. The team was also highly commended in the Client Team of the Year category, recognising the collaboration behind the scheme.
Benchmark Street Furniture is proud to have contributed to this award-winning project..
