Benchmark Design provided a unique and practical seating solution to a large area in Queensberry Way, Kensington.

The Borough of Kensington and Chelsea asked Benchmark Design to provide a seating solution for a large area in Queensberry Way, Kensington, centred around a single tree. Not wanting individual curved benches, the specification was for a continuous curve around the raised concrete tree bed.

The obvious solution was to use a bench from our 007 range (licence to seat), which can be curved to any radius and manufactured to any length – in this case, over 7 metres long. With the selection of our Shoreline design (with a powder-coated finish on the steel frame) enabling it to blend in with the surrounding environment.

The Borough of Kensington and Chelsea were delighted with the proposed design and cost, and had funds left to add further benches. SL005s, with a straight angle bend, were used to match the angle in the brickwork outside the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle School.

The final outcome was a neat and tidy public area providing ample seating in a harmonious design.
